Pretty good actually! I like the composition and the cutesy style it's drawn in. The shading's a bit messy and inconsistent and the hair looks a little odd, but I'd say this is great besides that.

Your artistic talents never fail to amazing me *o*

Sure, I may be a bit swayed to love this one because Game Grumps, butdamndude, this shit's amazing. Excellent composition and coloring, man. I love how expressive you made Dan and Arin as well, creatively capturing the overall characters those two are. Also, bonus points on Dan's NSP boxing apparel. Honestly, I don't have much in the ways of criticism. I guess the shine in Dan's hair seems a little too two dimensional and the background have a few more details here and there.

Excellent work dude, still wows me that you're talented enough to make this kind of stuff at our age.

Taffytoad responds:

Thanks man, I really appreciate that. Again your criticism is spot on as usual and thanks for the encouraging words!!

I liked the artwork, the watercolor style is always nice. Sadly, I feel like I've heard this joke hundreds of times prior to this. Hate to be that guy, but I'm pretty sure Cyanide and Happiness got to the punchline first.

Holy fuck, way to go above and beyond. I've seen many of the trophies posted in the contest, and this might actually be my favorite. Definitely defeats my submission entirely, shit man, this is amazing. The way you painted the hair is very well done, it actually looks like it has the texture of a bust. Granted the cartoony face is quick to undo this effect, you managed to blend this element in very well. Good face choice too, btw, it's a bit subtler than many would go for but holds the full comedic effect.
Bravo, I hope to see more works of yours in the future~

YakovlevArt responds:

I realized once I started to paint the face, that I wasn't gonna be able to make it look THAT 3d unless I actually went and sculpted it in 3d (which I contemplated.)
Thanks for the fair critique. You have a great point and I'm glad you still liked it. As long as it did the "job" and it made people laugh, I'm happy with it.

I actually enjoy this piece.

While I do wish there was more shading, the color choices themselves are pretty good. I'm a fan of the creme colors, maaan. The expression on the character is very good as well, personally I feel like it needs a nose to complete it though. I also enjoy how everything look mildly melt-y, it gives a warm feel to the picture and definitely emphasizes the pleasure. Also the Xs were a nice choice.

Just add a bit more detail to it and you'll be gooood.

Thanks for the input, it's really appreciated <3

This is actually really cool, I very rarely see coloring and shading styled like this. It looks very bright and vibrant, almost like it was colored with markers or highlighters. So, I'm diggin' that style, bruh.

I was really confused for a minute, but nowww I think I know what it means. It's really cool when something as simple as a storyboard forces me to think.

As for the art, I really really like the style. It's something I haven't seen much of. It's got this sharper style to it that does a really good job at being scary or cute when it wants to. That aspect of it was used very well in this storyboard. As for critique, it's only a story board, so I can't really complain that it doesn't look entirely finished. So, all I can say is, awesome job!

Also, pretty cool that you and your girlfriend connect through art and are actually animating this. Couples like that make me jealous.

Can't deny my love for the Shy Girls-

Anyways, nice piece of art ya got there actually. The very well-postured pose topped with the cliche "mom" mug definitely makes her a mom character already. Bravo on that, especially with the little details like on the chair or even the charismatic freckle on her face. There are a few issues though, such as her legs. They seem rather large in proportion to the rest of her body. And the angle of the chair seems a bit-... off, I guess. Like, the perspective is weird.

I still love this piece though, good work, duuuuude.

Gotta say, I fucking love your art style. It strikes this perfect middle-ground between realism and cartoony. It's so expressive and lively for a single image, and that's the kind of shit I looove. Honestly, I don't have much in the way of suggestions on ways you can improve. Some of the background characters look a little too goofy in my opinion, but that's more of a style thang.

You just keep doing what you're doing and get never stop improving.

Smashega responds:

This is the nicest thing anyone ever said to me. Thank you so much!

Not bad, the colors are nice and it's definitely got a sketchy style to it. It just looks a little off with the lack of background. I assume that sword is supposed to be going behind her and touching the ground, but a lack of background makes it look like she's just holding it funny. And if that's not what you were going for, then she's just holding it funny. The legs look a little off with their positioning. Lastly, I'd say the lines aren't that great in the picture. A sketchy style is okay, but I don't feel like it works as well here. It makes it come off as amateurish or unfinished, and it feels like some of the lines are a little too faded in the clothes and in the hair as well.

It's not a bad piece, but I feel as though a little bit of everything could use some improvement. And based on your other work, that's not too big of a challenge. So, keep at it.
